Towards Safe, Violence-free Communities for Women and Girls in South Africa

This publication is based on proceedings of a dialogue held 22-23 August 2013, entitled “Towards Safe, Violence-free Communities for Women and Girls in South Africa: Working Together to Improve Police Responses, A Dialogue Between Government and Civil society.” The two-day dialogue brought together stakeholders to talk, share experiences, express their frustration and challenges, and celebrate good practices. This report highlights issues and perspectives raised, and attempts to capture the voices of those who are at the forefront of working towards safer communities and homes for women and girls.
